The USS Apogon, a Balao-class submarine, served with distinction during WWII, earning six battle stars while patrolling regions such as the Mariana Islands, Philippines, and Midway. After the war, the Apogon met her final resting place at Bikini Atoll, sinking during nuclear testing in 1946.

DESCRIPTION: Now transformed into an underwater sanctuary, the Apogon is a thriving reef teeming with life. In this high-quality print, you’ll see shimmering schools of glass fish weaving around her massive propellers, while vibrant sea whip corals cling to her hull. The once-militaristic submarine has been reborn as a peaceful, maternal refuge for marine creatures, and I aimed to capture the beauty and movement of life as it flourishes around the wreck.

Whether or not you've explored shipwrecks, this artwork brings the magic of the ocean into your space, offering a glimpse of how life transforms even the most unexpected places.
